This project captures my journey along a section of the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail, walking nearly 30 miles from Tamerton Foliot on the edge of Plymouth to Luckett in Cornwall. Using the Tamar Valley train line to shape my route where possible, I photographed the landscape as I moved through it -- exploring rivers, expansive fields, country lanes, and woodlands, as well as the remnants of once-thriving mines that now stand as reminders of the past.
Through research, observation, and careful compositional choices, I sought to uncover the lesser-known histories and hidden elements within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This series reflects my personal experience of entering and discovering a landscape for the first time, capturing scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The 30 images presented here are also featured in my accompanying book, selected from thousands of photographs taken along the way. Arranged to mirror the journey itself, they invite the viewer to travel through the Tamar Valley, experiencing its layers of history and natural beauty as I did.
